Works Outline

After a successful tender bid-application process, we were employed to construct an explosion-resistant building to encapsulate a Northumbrian Water surge vessel unit to protect the banks of the River Tyne. This was a sensitive site in a nature-rich area on the Duke of Northumberland
Estate, and so the building was required to be constructed using a natural stone facade to match the existing architecture.

The steel vessel was fitted to the reinforced concrete slab by the main contractor, and we supplied & fitted structural steel wind-posts, concrete block inner walls with a double layer of steel Security mesh in the cavity, then the mixed bus tumbled walling outer stone skin. The building was topped using modern roof trusses and a man-made slate & aluminium guttering for low Future maintenance.

With the fitting of integrated bat-boxes and the re-seeding of the graded top soil to allow nature to return, the project was completed slightly ahead of schedule, on budget, and we achieved a top ranking from the main contractor for health & safety awareness throughout.
